FEMALE CANCER PATIENTS 19% SUFFER FROM BREAST CANCER- BSMMU BREAST CANCER SEMINAR

On last Thursday "The Radiology and Imaging Department Of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) organized a seminar named 'CME on Breast Imaging and Intervention'. Speakers said this at the seminar - 19 percent of female cancer patients suffer from breast cancer. 

 Accordng to the International Agency For Research On Cancer (IARC): Every year more than 13000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Bangladesh and died 6 thousand 783 women. 19% of female cancer patients suffer from breast cancer. Breast cancer can be cured if aware. Regular health check-ups for women at risk of breast cancer, breast self-examination from age 20 years, and mammographic screening for women over 35 can prevent the disease.

Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Prof. Dr. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed said, currently we are very worried about breast cancer. It may also be influenced by dietary, environmental and climatic environmental changes. Besides, due to the increase in awareness and breast cancer screening, this problem is coming in front of everyone. The radiology department is playing an important role in this regard.

President of Society Of Radiology & Imaging Departement Prof. Dr Mizanur Rahman & Head of the Radiology Department of SHIBPS Prof. Dr. Khalilur Rahman. Artical of the seminar were presented by Associate Prof. of Radiology Department of BSMMU Prof. Saida Showkot, Associate Professor of National Renal Institute Dr. Fatema Doza, SHIBPS Associate Professor Dr. Bidura Tanim, Bardem Associate Professor Dr. Fahmida Yasmin, Assistant Professor of Radiology Department of BSMMU Dr. Farzana Alam and others.
