What To Do In The Awareness Of Diabetes Patients.
What is diabetes and its types of?
Diabetes occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces. Diabetes is a type of metabolic disorder. The body has insulin, but is unable to functionate. Or the insulin is completely wasted. Insulin is a hormone that regulates blood glucose. Hyperglycemia is also called blood glucose or elevated blood sugar. It is a common effect of uncontrolled diabetes and over time causes serious damage to many body systems, especially nerves and blood vessels.
We generally talk about four types of diabetes. Type-1, Type-2, Gestational and others. Type-1 means that, in any case, those whose body has lost insulin can die if insulin is not given separately. When we eat different types of food from outside, eat fast food, then some kind of change occurs in the body. It can be seen that the body has insulin, but it is not working. Then whatever food we eat, the glucose accumulates. It is type-2 diabetes.
Common symptoms of diabetes:
- Frequent urination.
- Blurred vision.
- Feeling tired and weak.
- Slow wound healing.
- Effortless weight loss.
- Feeling more hungry than usual.
- Feeling more thirsty than usual.
- Frequent infections of gums, skin and genitals.
- Feeling irritable or having rapid mood swings.
Diabetes Management: Lifestyle and Daily Routine
Keeping your blood sugar levels within the range recommended by your doctor is a challenge. This causes many things to change your blood sugar levels, sometimes unexpectedly. Below are some advices that will help control your blood sugar levels.
- Food
Healthy eating is the cornerstone of healthy living, with or without diabetes. But if you have diabetes, you need to know how food affects blood sugar levels. It depends not only on the type of food you eat, but also on how much you eat and what kind of food you eat.
- Eating a balanced diet.
- Keep up with your food and medications.
- Avoid sugar-sweetened drinks/foods.
- Exercise
Physical activity is another important part of your diabetes management plan. When you exercise, your muscles use sugar (glucose) for energy. Regular physical exercise will help your body use insulin more efficiently.
Exercise works to lower blood sugar levels. Longer workouts, longer effects. Even light activity—such as doing housework, gardening, or long walks—raises blood sugar levels.
- Medicines
Diet and exercise alone are not enough to control diabetes. Insulin and other diabetes medications have been developed to lower blood sugar levels. But the effectiveness of this drug depends on the time and size of the dose. Medicines you take for problems other than diabetes can also affect your blood sugar levels.
- Illness
When you're sick, your body produces stress-fighting hormones that help your body fight off illness, which can also cause your blood sugar levels to rise. Changes in your appetite and normal functioning can complicate diabetes management.
- Menstruation and menopause
Changes in hormone levels in the week before and during menstruation can cause significant fluctuations in blood sugar levels.
- Stress
If you're stressed, the hormones your body produces in response to chronic stress can cause your blood sugar levels to rise. Additionally, it may be difficult to fully follow your usual diabetes management routine if you are under extra stress.
“The more you know about the factors that affect your blood sugar levels, the better you can anticipate sugar fluctuations — and plan accordingly. If you have trouble controlling your blood sugar levels in your target range, contact your diabetes healthcare practitioner for help.”
